Seraya Shores Large 2-storey Cottage in East Bali

The best room in the place in my opinion is the upstairs room in this bungalow. This room is accessed via a staircase that runs along the side of the bottom room from the large porch area. So its possible to have 2 different groups of people staying above each other. The room is spacious with a queen sized bed in the center and a balcony overlooking the ocean and the rest of the property.

It has its own bathroom which while being open air is fully covered by the roof. The room has windows on one side and 2 doors that open out onto the balcony as well as the rear door that accesses the stairs.

Ventilation is very good because of the fact that the front wall is not connected to the alang alang and bamboo ceiling allowing ocean breezes to waft over. This room does not have a fan but does not need one. Glass window allow plenty of light to enter and waking up to the sound of the waves and walking out onto the balcony is a wonderful experience.

This room is not particularly fancy but it feels luxurious. Its my favourite room in the place and would be perfect for a person or couple desiring a little luxury.

High points:
A great room with awesome views and plenty of space.
Low points: You have someone underneath you.

The lower room is next to the deck area which has a circular table for meals and 2 large couches for relaxing. The deck faces the beach as do all the rooms and is decorated with Balinese umbrellas. The wooden deck has a natural roof with roll down bamboo shutters in case of storms or for extra shade. The roof is supported on cement and wood blocks. One unique feature is the tree that grows through the deck and the roof. Manager Jamie told me the tree does not sway and this concept worked out well. The room is equipped with a queen size 4 poster bed, ceiling fan, water dispenser, clothes rack and cupboard containing books.

The room is decorated with a traditional painting of a Balinese woman at work.

The bathroom is open with a half roof, in garden style and features a western toilet, sink, towel rack with large towel and sarong. The shower area features a pile of volcanic rocks stacked against the perimeter wall with the hot and cold water.

Good points: Large room with huge porch area. Has the largest bed of all the rooms along with the upstairs room
Low points: Other guests may be eating and gathering right outside your window and you have an upstairs neighbor.
