The Sanur Paradise Plaza Hotel is a grand place located on the main bypass road in the middle of Sanur village. It has close proximity to the beach and is used by many companies for receptios and presentations. The garden and pool area are long and the main lobby area is impressive. Rooms are comfortable but not total luxury.
Atmosphere
Situated on the corner of the main road through Sanur the Sanur Paradise Plaza Hotel occupies a prominent position and its entrance is expansive and grand. Smartly dressed bell- boys in traditional costume greet guests and help them with their luggage. Large tour buses can pull up to the front door and when I visited the lobby area hummed with activity.
The massive lobby roof and rattan chairs allow air to circulate and guests to relax while checking in. Balinese design and style are evident here from the materials and shape of the roof and furniture. Balinese artwork is displayed at the back end of the lobby along with carvings in the lower level next to the restaurant.
The rooms are stacked on 4 levels in 2 blocks that face east and west and open out onto the central pool. The river shaped pool is 105 meters long and is surrounded by trees and plants giving a relaxing tropical atmosphere.
Location
The Sanur Paradise Plaza Hotel located in Sanur, the first resort area in Bali. The hotel sits and the intersection of Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai and Jalan Raya Sanur in the middle of Sanur village. The immediate area doesn’t feel like a village but a kilometer furthur north you will start running into paddy fields.
The hotel is 200 meters from the beach, 10 kms from Kuta and 14 from the airport. The arts center of Ubud is 20 kms (12.5 miles away ).
Luxury Scale
The Sanur Paradise Plaza Hotel is a fairly large elegant hotel with plenty of space and amenities. The expansive driveway and open lobby with huge Balinese roof are just for starters. Balinese artwork, statues and outfits are all over and the 105 meter swimming pool is a wonderful place to relax. The hotel has 3 restaurants, 3 bars, kids club and Spa / Fitness area.
Rooms are a good size and come complete with Minibar, satellite TV and comfortable furniture.
Staff Friendliness
The staff here are from all over Indonesia and like to project an Indonesian type of friendliness. The desk staff, bar staff, massage staff and host Ajani were all smiles and made first contact.
Weird Stuff
This hotel has excellent conference facilities and large groups often come here for a conference while staying somewhere else.
What makes this hotel unique?
The Sanur Paradise Plaza Hotel has a decent level of luxury for the visitor wanting to be pampered but also has a friendly staff. It is located in Sanur, which might be better for some people than being stuck out on the Bukit at Nusa Dua or up in Seminyak.
The 105 meter swimming pool and location in the middle of Sanur make it a good place to relax.
Why would you want to stay here?
I would stay here if I wanted resort type quality and to explore the Sanur area which is more traditional than Nuisa Dua. The hotel is fairly luxurious and spacious with a professional staff. Situated on the Bypass Ngurah Rai getting to Kuta or Seminayak is very easy.
Why would you want to stay somewhere else?
I would stay somewhere else if I wanted to go for a budget option, wanted to situated right on the beach instead of 200 meters away and if I wanted to be located out of the Sanur area.

Manager: Ajani K. Rahadiany
The marketing services manager for the Sanur Paradise Plaza Hotel is Ajani K. Rahadiany from Jakarta who has been here for 9 months.
She told me the hotel was built in 1996 and was originally the Radisson. On April 1st 2003 the hotel became the Sanur Paradise Plaza Hotel. The hotel has 2 properties in Sanur, the Hotel and Suites
Ajani told me that all the Radissons in Indonesia have been taken over by Plaza.
Located 20 minutes from the international airport in the middle of Sanur village the hotel is only 2kms from the capitol Denpasar and 1.5km from Sanur beach.
I asked Ajani what there was to do in Sanur and she said Sanur village features a traditional market and shopping arcade which is 5 minutes away.
I asked Ajani about the highlights of the area and she said the Balinese architecture, sculptures of lions and birds as decorations. Also natural products are used in the construction of the main lobby area which is situated under a huge traditional roof. The supporting pillars are made from palm trees and the restaurant and bar area chairs are made from rattan.
The layout of the hotel is a large parking area in front of the lobby with seating and reception under the open air roof. The lobby bar is off to the left side and leads into an arts and crafts area including painting and carvings.
Downstairs is the restaurant which serves a buffet breakfast.
Heading into the open the 329 rooms are stacked on 4 levels in an east and west wing either side of the swimming pool which is 105 meters long and is shaped like a river.
Daily activities are scheduled at the Hotel including trips to the traditional market. The hotel rents a private beach.
The Plaza Suites has a Waterbom Park just 2kms away which is great for the kids.
I asked Ajani to recommend a couple of places to eat within easy reach of the hotel. She said Ryoshi for Japanese food is good and Greek Speciality.
For nightlife she recommended the Jazz Bar & Grill in front of the hotel and Café Wayan which features live music.
Ajani said the current occupancy is made up of 50% domestic tourists from Java, with the other large groups coming from Japan, Europe and Australia. Japanese guests stay on average between 2 and 4 nights, Europeans tend to stay for between 4-7 nights.
I asked Ajani if she could say one sentence to a tourist thinking of coming to the Plaza and she said ?We have a signature of Indonesian hospitality here.?
