After spending 3 nights at Pura Jati guesthouse on Jl. Hanoman in downtown Ubud I have pretty good idea of the routine. The few rooms face the rice fields in between Jl. Hanoman and Monkey Forest Rd. Things start early for the people who live here, up before dawn they are chatting and going about their chores before sunrise. Being a tight little place as far as the layout of the rooms, privacy is not the main factor. Each room has a small porch area with chairs and guests have to pass in close proximity to get to their rooms. The walls are made of bamboo so you can hear somebody burp.
If you want to take your time exploring Ubud and 50,000rp per day fits in with your budget, this place might work. Breakfast is included so you can get out and about early and make the most of your time and money.

I spent a month traveling from the Jati Homestay. I felt very private here. I became friends with the residents, the people who worked in the fields and the nearby shop keepers. As an older female traveling at home, I felt very safe and loved it here. It is the perfect location for day trips around Bali.
