Location:
The Mentari Hotel is located on Jl. Hang Tuah in Sanur. For people arriving from the airport this means a 25 minutes drive along Bypass Ngurah Rai. The hotel is 1 minutes off of the Bypass and a 1 minute walk to the beach.

Jl. Hang Tuah is at the northern end of Jl. Danau Tamblingan, the main street in Sanur. The shopping, bars and restaurants are within 1 minute walk and go for a couple of miles. The nightlife of Kuta is 25 minutes away and Seminyak is 35 minutes on the Bypass / Sunset Rd.

Atmosphere:
This hotel is a family style hotel. Its on the budget end of the scale and ideal for people with families who want a place for a week. The place has been around for a few years but is still reasonably clean and comfortable. Rooms are large and bright and the large pool is great for relaxing. Popular with Europeans, this hotel is low key, relaxing and affordable.

Luxury level:
This is a budget hotel and offers a decent level of comfort for the price. Each room has a TV with mostly Indonesian programming, a mini bar, shower with hot water, AC. The pool is large and clean with recliners and chairs and the restaurant is adjacent offering a selection of western and Indonesian favourites.

Staff Friendliness:
The staff were quite nice. Oka the desk person showed me around and the waitresses took my order and served me a pizza. In this small sized place you will get to know the staff.

Weird Stuff:
They serve some pretty strange looking pizzas. The restaurant flyers have some hilarious commentary "Recipe is prepare by the chef with a high taste, or you choose to just sitting down relax in the lounge while you are chatting and drinking your favorites from the bar."

What makes this place unique:
This place is unique because it offers a small modern style hotel close to the beach with a decent level of comfort for a budget price. The pool area is pleasant and the rooms are large.

Why would you stay here:
I would stay here if I had a small family and wanted a handy place for accessing the beach and the shopping, for a budget price. Sanur is a slightly less intense scene than Kuta so will be better for a young family.

Why would you stay somewhere else:
I would stay somewhere else if I wanted a higher level of comfort. Being a small hotel some of the rooms are grouped tightly around the pool and this might bother some people. If I wanted access to the party scene I would go to Kuta or Seminyak.

How do the rooms feel:
The rooms are large and simple. Each has AC, hot water, TV, shower, mini bar, writing desk and large beds. The rooms are a tiny bit frayed around the edges, but the size and the light make up for it.

Noise levels:
Noise levels around the pool during the day might occasionally be loud. There is no music but the proximity of some of the rooms and the frequency of families with kids might make it loud.

The hotel is located down a driveway off of the street so traffic noise is not a problem.

Proximity to the action:
Mentari Sanur Hotel is at the top of Jl. Danau Tamblingan, which means it is close to bars and restaurants. There is no real nightclub party scene in Sanur so for that you will have to go to Kuta.
