The Conrad hotel in Benoa, close to Nusa Dua has been voted one of the best new hotels in the world by Conde Nast Traveler magazine. The magazine has an annual Hot List and the latest version came out this month.
The Conrad has 313 rooms, 350 meters of beachfront and 4,000sq meter lagoon! Its a pretty big place and that lagoon pool is awesome, I have swan in it myself. The design of the Conrad follows western tradition, no matter what the article says. Indonesian influences might be in the background elements, but are minimal as is the decoration style in general. The Conrad is a very well put together hotel, with wide pathways, doorways and areas for all those wide-body tourists that flock to Bali.
The staff are referred to as team-members and the uniform is a low-key combination of white pants and t-shirt. I would stay at the Conrad without a doubt if I were looking for a modern spacious hotel resort in Bali.
One of the features tech-heads will love is the WI-FI access found in many areas of the hotel. No need to go surfing or mix with locals, when you can get online and pretend you are back home in your office. The Conrad has a wonderful Spa that features reflexology, massage, hot tub, sauna and steam-room. The Conrad restaurants have already won awards and my tuna sandwich was very nice with a thick chunk of juicy tuna and sauce.
I would say that this hotel differs from a place like the Bounty in that the tone is more sedate. Its not Animal House by the pool, with music and drinks, but rather relation by the lagoon. Probably more Europeans and Americans though still a good place for families looking for a total package.
