Bali Hyatt -
Sanur, Bali, Indonesia

The Hyatt is located on Jl.Danau Tamblingan in Sanur which is about 30 minutes from the airport.
The hotel is located directly on the beach and enjoys a massive beach-front.
The style of the hotel is definitely Balinese, with a 30 meter drive way leading to the main lobby which is under a huge bamboo / alang alang roof. I have seen better roofs before but the size of this one is impressive and is supported on large palm tree poles.
A lot of this hotel has that rocks in cement’ effect that looks super cool as you ownder how in the heck did they get those odd shaped rocks to conform to that exact shape?’.
A massive gong sits at the entrance to the lobby at the bottom of the stairs and at the top is a 2-man gamelan orchestra delicately played traditional music in the late afternoon.
The rooms sit is large cement blocks 3 storeys high. On the outside they seem a bit impersonal but are very nice inside with Balinese paintings, comfortable furniture and bed and very nice bathroom.
The Suite rooms comes with lounge room and extra bathroom plus outside seating on private deck with outside shower and hammock.
The gardens are spacious and lush with tall trees and bushes.
In between the block of rooms closest to the beach and the ocean is a wide stretch of garden and a sandy section set up with recliners. Plenty of empty beach space for those who need it.
The quality of the beach is good with yellow sand. The amount of activity from beach vendors seems minimal.
The pool closest to the beach is angular in design and has a fountain. There is no pool bar but the Wantilan Café is located on one side and the Pizza Ria directly behind. The area is very pleasant with ample space and plenty of shade from the tall trees.
The place close to the beach is set up with quality wooden tables, chairs and shades and other have Balinese style thatched roofs.
Sitting at the beachside café you can hear the birds sing from the tall trees.
Whole effect of the gardens and beach are is to create a feeling of spaciousness and quiet relaxation.
Underneath the lobby is the Hotel Center and a string of glossy shops including an internet café. I looked at a decorated kris’ (Balinese long knife) for $750.
Jl. Danau Tamblingan is the main street in Sanur where restaurants and bars are in abundance. The hotel is far enough off the street that noise levels are negligible.
Sitting in the lobby bar at the Hyatt is picture of tropical relaxation. The rear of the lobby open out onto a lounge area with the bar affording a lovely view overlooking the swimming pools and the ocean. The furniture is wicker and the glass and marble topped tables create a tropical feel as do the many trees and bushes all around.
Looking to the left I see a 3 storey block of rooms and one of the restaurants underneath a natural roof.
To the right I see another one of the restaurants underneath a 2 storey natural roof.
People sit here enjoying the breeze and slowly sip a cold drink.
Throughout the lobby area which is on the second floor and the shopping area are many carved Balinese doorways and
The main lobby roof is supported on tall palm tree pillars.
Walking down from the lobby bar to the Pizza Ria restaurant you will pass the main pool with operating pool bar. The pool has a kids pool next to it and looks very nice.
To the left is the Omang- Omang Grill restaurant serving simple food such as pasta, burgers, pizza and sandwiches. Penne pasta is 59,000rp, pizzas are 60,000rp and a Club Sandwich is 47,000rp. A small Bintang will cost you 25,000rp and a frozen Margarita 45,000rp
The floor is a comfortable wooden deck reminding me of many Californian restaurants by the sea.
This restaurant sits under a large open sided natural roof and the feel is simple and elegant at the same time.
The place is large and can accommodate many people.

Location:
The Hyatt is located on Jl.Danau Tamblingan in Sanur which is about 30 minutes from the airport. Kuta is around 20 minutes and Nusa Dua around 35 minutes. The hotel is sitauted on a lovely stretch of beach.
Atmosphere:
The Hyatt is a large beachside hotel resort that has enough size to allow guests to stretch out and relax. The lobby, beachside structures and room decorations are all in Balinese style and together with the tall trees and bushes create a tropical feel.
The hotel feels somewhat quiet although the place is large. I get the impression families, honeymooners and older couples come here.
Staff Friendliness:
All the staff I talked to except the Sales Manager seemed very friendly and eager to help. I think they are told be attentive but they also seemed like nice people.
Weird stuff:
Next to the beachside café are very nice tables and chairs. The white shades are nice to but have been entirely bombed by the birds that live in the trees above.
What makes this hotel unique?
This hotel is located on a section of beach in Bali that is both quiet and pleasant. The town of Sanur is heavily developed for tourism but has a much lower key feel than Kuta / Seminyak.
The Hyatt Resort is large and comfortable and fully gives the feeling of being in a topical location and affording a quiet, comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere.
The hotel seems very popular with European and Asian tourists, especially couples, older people and families. There is activity by the pools and near the beach and there is music playing although its not the ‘rock till you drop’ style of somewhere like Hotel Bounty in Kuta.
I think comfortable, exotic relation is what makes this hotel unique.
Luxury level:
This is a luxury hotel and real effort has been taken to provide an aesthetically pleasing environment by using natural materials, Balinese artwork and carvings, attractive and comfortable furniture and pleasing styling. Plenty of hotel facilities including tennis courts, Hotel Center, Internet Facility, Kid’s Club, ass well as a selection of restaurants.
Why would you stay here?
I would stay here in a second actually largely because its located on the beach in a pleasant area (Sanur). The hotel feel tropical, comfortable, spacious and offers enough on site facilities to make a 10-14 day holiday visitor. For someone looking to relax in a spacious, luxury place that is 30 minutes from the airport on the beach this is a great place.
Why would you stay somewhere else?
Obviously if you are on a tight budget you won’t want to be staying here. Also if you want an even higher level of luxury you might try the Grand Hyatt in Nusa Dua for even more seclusion. While there is nightlife in Sanur it is not really a nightlife center so to speak, when compared with Kuta or Seminyak.
Noise levels:
The main street outside Jl, Danau Tamblingan is the main street in Sanur but isn’t like Jl. Legian in Kuta. The hotel is situated far enough back that you won’t hear any traffic noise. The only thing I hear sitting at one of the poolside bars is some music, people enjoying themselves, waterfalls and the birds singing.
How do the rooms feel?
The rooms are well appointed, clean and comfortable. The suite rooms really have some space with a very nice outside area to stretch out and enjoy the peace and quiet. The blocks of rooms don’t look to appetizing from the outside but are very nice once you get inside.
Amenities:
All rooms have individually controlled air-conditioning, hairdryer, private bath / shower, satellite TV, IDD telephone, mini bar, tea /coffee making facilities, in-room safe and balcony.
