Bali Coconut Hotel - Legian, Bali, Indonesia

Bali Coconut Hotel -
Legian
, Bali, Indonesia

This hotel is in the budget range located in the Padma area of Legian. It is located just along from the Jayakarta and Poco Loco.

The small parking area is at the front with the reception area under open air roof. Directly the reception is the pool which is a decent size. The pool has a sunken bar which was not in operation when I visited. Around the pool are several recliners for sunbathing.

The rooms are in 2 storey brick blocks and either have a small terrace area or balcony. Terraces are equipped with rattan furniture and a small table.

The Bali Coconut Hotel feels like it has been around for maybe 15 years and needs renovating. While decently clean it has that ‘white tile’ effect that often gives a stark image.

Rooms are very simple and clean with TV, Mini Bar and AC. All have bath tub and Hot water.

This hotel attracts a lot of domestic tourists from Java who comes with their families. This creates its own atmosphere which can be pleasant or not depending on whether you enjoy having kids around. When I visited the Bali Coconut it didn’t seem very busy at all.

Outside the hotel are touts offering transport and they could be bonus or a pest depending on your point of view.

When I visited no manager was on site and I was told it would be 2 weeks before there was one.

Lounge is a large open-air tiled area with simple furniture. The restaurant opens at 7.30am and closes at 11pm

This hotel is not really designed in Balinese style but has Balinese decorations including an intricate carved painting and ceremonial figures.……………………………………………………………………………………………

Location:
The location is in the Padma area of Legian close to the beach and the shopping of Jl. Legian. Driving from the airport will take around 20 minutes.

Atmosphere:
This hotel feels like a budget hotel in that its not flashy and has been around for a while. It doesn’t have the polished feel that other hotels might have and isn’t as aesthetically pleasing as others.

While I visited saw family groups of domestic tourists and some westerners. This seems like a place people come if luxury is the least option but they still need a hotel rather than a guest house.

What makes this hotel special?
Tough one. Its a budget hotel with no special points about it. I’d say for a person on a budget who would like a hotel that domestic tourists favour this could be the ticket. The hotel does provide an affodable option that is on the beach in Legian.

Staff Friendliness:
The desk staff were polite as were the restaurant staff. The room boy who showed me around told me he had worked at the hotel for 10 years.

Weird Stuff:
The amount of laundry that gets hung up by the domestic tourists.

Luxury level:
All 36 rooms are Standard and all come with TV, Mini Bar and AC. All have bath tub and Hot water. The rooms look comfortable and for me seemed the best part of the hotel.

Why would you stay here?
I’d stay here if I wanted a budget place close to Jl. Legian and the shopping, close to the beach and with access to the cheap tourist bars of the Padma area. This would be good for families on a budget.

Why would you want to stay somewhere else?
I’d stay somewhere else if I wanted a more luxurious place or somewhere that gave me more of a tropical Bali feeling. Also if the budget family scene wasn’t for me I’d look elsewhere.

Like many hotels these days the Coconut Hotel’s pool bar wasn’t in operation.

Restaurant on second floor is large and feels quite bare. A bar is located in the restaurant and the place overlooks the street outside on 2 sides.

I asked an Australian tourist what it was like staying here and she said it was good for the money. She said it was nice having domestic tourists here too.

Noise levels:
The hotel sits on a fairly busy corner and there is more or less constant traffic. The rooms do extend directly back from the reception area so if street noise is a problem for take a room far back. I think at night the noise levels will be acceptable.

How does the room feel?
The rooms feel very simple, clean and tidy with decent bathroom, TV, Mini Bar and AC. All have bath tub and Hot water.

Amenities:
Rooms are all AC and have a refrigerator, mini-bar, telephone, TV, in-house movies, bed control, private bath, private balcony and hot water.

The hotel a Coffee Shop, a restaurant and Karaoke Bar, Safety Deposit boxes, laundry and dry cleaning service.
