The Aneka Beach Hotel is a very well located and well kept 2-star hotel that affords easy access to the highlights of Kuta while privding a relaxing escape.
The Aneka has a rather tranquil atmosphere for a place that is right on Poppies I and Jalan Pantai Kuta. The entrance is tucked away from the main street down a small lane and the reception is located under a traditional Balinese roof. The restaurant is adjacent and is also under an open air roof, the pool being on the other side.
I really liked the pool area which seemed peaceful and relaxing and also the tidy pathways and tall bamboo.
I saw Indonesian and Europeans with their families and this would be a comfortable place for a family. Also someone wanting to surf Kuta Beach would enjoy the relaxed atmosphere just 50 meters from the beach front.
The Aneka hotel is located in Kuta on Jalan Pantai Kuta ( the beach road ) and Poppies I. To access the hotel from Jalan Pantai Kuta you will walk 50 meters down a lane. The location does afford close access to the beach, but not a beach view and all the rooms have a garden view.
Good points about the location are proximity to the beach, Hard Rock Café ( 100 meters ), shopping in Kuta Square ( 5 minute walk ), downtown restaurants such as Made’s Warung ( 4 minutes ) and the airport ( 15 minutes drive ).
The Aneka Beach is a 2-star hotel but feels like a 3-star. The gardens are very lush with tall trees and bamboo, the entrance way is set off of the street with a parking area and open air lobby set under a traditional roof. All the rooms have a garden view and are a decent quality. The pool area is tranquil and located next to the restaurant.
There are 4 types of rooms. Standard, Villa, Junior Suites and Family Suites.
Each room has refrigerator and mini bar, bath-tub and shower and color TV.
My guide, sales manager Made Purnami was very friendly and spent a while taking me round. The desk staff were polite and the grounds staff work hard at keeping the place spotless.
The Hard Rock Hotel is located next door and has cut off the sea view from the Aneka’s highest rooms.
Exiting the Aneka from the rear you will come out onto Poppies I right in the middle of restaurant and market area.
This hotel is located on Kuta beach next to the Hard Rock Hotel. For surfers and beach goers wanting close proximity to Kuta beach, or access to the downtown shopping and nightlife of Kuta this hotel is perfect. The airport is only 15 minutes away. The Hard Rock Hotel allows visitors to use its pool for a price and staying at the Aneka next door is way more affordable.
The rear entrance to Poppies I, gives instant access to budget restaurants and bars.
I would stay at the Aneka Beach Hotel if I wanted to unwind for a few days after arriving in Bali. If I wanted to access the beach and enjoy the shopping, dining and nightlife by walking this place is perfect. Also it has a restaurant and pool so if I felt like hanging out I wouldn’t have to leave the property.
If low budget was my priority I might go to a guest house on Poppies I or II. If I wanted a higher level of luxury I might try a hotel or resort in Seminyak or Nusa Dua.

Manager: Made Purnami
The sales manager for the Aneka Beach hotel is Made Purnami from Karangasem, Bali. She has been working with the Aneka company for 2 years already in Lovina and told me there are 3 others in Bali. The Aneka Beach in Kuta has been open for 13 years.
Made told me that since the Hard Rock Hotel has built highrise rooms the Aneka can no longer say it has a beach view and all the rooms have a garden view, which is very nice with the tall trees and high bamboo.
Made said the hotel has a ‘house of Bali’ style and the lobby and cottages have a traditional roof made of alang alang and bamboo.
The friendly staff are rated highly and Made said the main sellling point of the hotel is location. The Aneka Beach hotel is located on Kuta beach and backs onto Poppies I which is perfect for surfers, beach goers, families as well as people who like to stroll and explore the restaurants, shopping and nightlife.
The Aneka has a fair amount of return visitors and location is their number 1 reason for returning.
Made said that right now the hotel has a 70% occupancy but that varies. About 70% of guests are from Australia, with Europeans and Asian tourists making up the rest. The domestic market also contributes a percentage with is currently 50% of the total.
I asked Made if she had to recommend 3 restaurants in the area for guests which would she choose. She said Made’s Warung for Indonesian food, Hard Rock Café for western and Papa’s Café for Italian.
For nightlife she recommended the Hard Rock Café next door and Stadium Café for sports, food and drinks.
Jalan Legian is a 5 minute walk and is also full of dining and entertainment options.
