The Amanda Resort is located on Jl. Petitenget in Kerobokan which is just north of the Seminyak nightlife scene.

The hotel has a parking area in front and the reception / lobby is set under a large natural bamboo / alang alang roof. Hotel staff wear traditional sarongs to compliment the Balinese feel.

Rooms come in 3 styles, Superior, Delux and Bungalow and are accessed via gardens packed with trees and bushes. Rooms come with TV, fridge, AC, couch, writing desk and large stone bathtub and shower. Delux rooms and Bungalows have either open-air or ?garden’ bathrooms which are very pleasant. Beds are large and the rooms were clean with flowers placed at the entrance and upon the bed.

The pool area features 2 pools, one small and one medium sized. When I visited both were empty of people. Good wooden recliners with mats were available and the whole area seemed a great place to relax. There is an absolutely amazing banana tree located next to the main pool with leaves sprayed out like a giant fan.

The dining area situated directly behind the reception area is a lovely arrangement. While fairly small it offers a very Balinese feel with a large stone fountain inside a central pond.

Large wayang paintings adorn the restaurant wall and the tables are arranged into seating for groups of 4, 2 and 6.

To the side of the restaurant area is a bale structure that is used for massages.

Atmosphere:
The atmosphere at the Amanda Resort is very relaxed. The place feels new and is designed in a modern / Balinese style with gardens and natural alang-alang roofs.

This place definitely isn’t a budget hotel and some of those luxury touches are around, including flowers placed at the entrances to rooms and on beds.

Location:
Located on Jl. Petitenet in Kerobokan this hotel is in a quiet neighborhood. The airport will be around 35 minutes away, Kuta around 20 minutes and the nightlife of Seminyak around 8 minutes by taxi. The beach is a 10 minute walk. Situated within a 10 minutes walk are some fine restaurants including The Living Room, La Luciola and Ku De Ta.

Luxury Scale:
The luxury scale is decent here, with attention given to design, style, quality and maintenance. Rooms come with large stone bath and shower, TV, fridge and AC.

The front lobby / reception is situated under a large natural bamboo roof which gives a Balinese feel. The staff wear elegant sarongs to add to this feel.

Staff Friendliness:
I spoke with Ayu the receptionist who showed me around, she was easy going and friendly.

Weird Stuff:
The garden areas are very well manicured and when I visited a team of gardeners were hard at work. I’m not used to seeing such attention to detail after visiting many budget places. Also the Satellite TV system can only handle 1 channel at a time.

What makes it unique?:
This hotel is unique because it offers a good level of luxury in a Balinese style. The location is good because it is in a quiet neighborhood reasonably close to the shopping, beach and nightlife.

Why would you stay here?:
I would stay here if I wanted a certain level of luxury, but not to be paying the high prices of some other resorts. If I wanted to be within striking distance of the action but not right in it this hotel would fit the bill.

Why would you stay somewhere else?:
I would stay somewhere else if I was on a budget, wanted extreme luxury or needed to be closer to the action.

Noise levels:
Kerobokan is a quiet neighborhood and Jl. Petitenget isn’t too busy. Noise levels are fine.

Proximity to action:
Guests staying here can access great restaurants by walking for several minutes or by driving a few minutes in a taxi. Nightlife is 10 minutes by taxi and the shopping on Jl. Legian and Kuta is 20 minutes by taxi.

How does the room feel?:
The rooms feel clean, spacious and modern. They are well kept and look very nice. The open air (garden) shower is pleasant as it adds to the natural feeling and cuts down on bathroom smells.

Amenities:
This hotel has some of the features of a high level resort including 24 hour Room Service, Swimming Pool, Facsimile, Internet Service, Shuttle Service to the beaches of Seminyak.
