Baliblog: Sigit how old is the Adhi Jaya Hotel?
Sigit: The hotel is 9 years old and covers half a hectare.

Baliblog: Tell us about your rooms.
Sigit: We have 52 rooms which are: 10 fans rooms, 18 Standard, 12 Superior, 10 Delux, 2 Family

Baliblog: What is the layout of the rooms?
Sigit: Our Superior rooms are upstairs in the new building, the Delux rooms on the ground floor.

The ?fan only’ rooms are located in a line at the rear of the swimming pool. Cottages are in the back part of the property and are Standard, with the 2 storey cottage a Family suite.

Baliblog: How would you describe the hotel?
Sigit: We are not a boutique hotel but have a modern Balinese style, not purely Balinese.

Baliblog: Tell me about the location of the hotel?
Sigit: We are strategically placed. Close to airport, close to dining areas on Jl Kartika Plaza. Waterbom Park is neighbor, shopping centers and Kuta Square are close and its 5 minutes to beach. We are close to ATM, and department store

Baliblog: Who are your guests?
Sigit: Our guests are domestic and also from Europe and Australia.
Baliblog: What is your occupancy right now (Aug 2004)?
Sigit: Our occupancy right now is 85%.

Baliblog: What are the selling points of the hotel?
Sigit: The selling points are: Price, the atmosphere, beautiful pool, and the simple, modern clean buildings. Also the strategically placed location. Friendly staff, we have a lot of repeat guests. Some people stay a month, a lot of business guests.

Baliblog: Do you have meeting rooms facilities?
Sigit: We don’t right now but will build a meeting room soon.

Baliblog: If a guest asks for recommendations for nightlife and restaurants what do you tell them?
Sigit: Jimbaran Bay for fish, Musro and Stadium Café for dinner.

Baliblog: What kind of food does the restaurant serve?
Sigit: Indonesian food, International food.

Baliblog: What are the opening hours of the restaurant?
Sigit: Breakfast is starting at 7am, although we serve the American breakfast at 5.30am. The restaurant closes at 11pm.

Baliblog: What other service does the hotel offer?
Sigit: Laundry service. Tour desk. We don’t have special events but can accept group requests for entertainment.

Baliblog: Would this hotel be good for older or younger people?
Sigit: We have 50 / 50 young and old guests.

The hotel is located on busy Jl. Kartika Plaza in Tuban, only 5 minutes from the airport. The hotel is easy to miss as it is tucked away on a corner.

The parking area extends past the reception and restaurant and can handle roughly 20 vehicles.

The restaurant is open and airy and looks bright and clean. Adjacent to the restaurant are the 2 storey blocks of Superior and Delux rooms. These are the newest rooms on the property having been built in 2001. The gardens that connect these rooms are well kept and tidy and guests are said to comment that they like the feel of the area.

The pool is the centerpiece of the hotel and is equipped with good quality wooden recliners and mats. This whole area seems very clean and modern. Next to the pool is the pool bar and breakfast area, again both operating and attractive.

Staff at the hotel wear traditional costume.

The newer rooms have either a balcony or terrace with good quality wooden furniture, 2 chairs and a table as well as a clothes rack. Fan rooms have a terrace with simple rattan furniture.

The 2-storey cottage has a large terrace and balcony with wooden furniture as do the other single-storey Standard cottage around the rear garden. All buildings are brick with a tile roof.

A Balinese temple is located in the center of the rear garden.

Location:
The Adhi Jaya Hotel is located on the lower end of Jl. Kartika Plaza in Tuban which means it is super handy for people arriving from the airport. The 1 mile trip to the airport should take about 10 minutes.

Jl. Kartika Plaza has a lot of tourist type businesses, restaurants, bars, art market and the Kuta Paradiso Billiard and Bowling Center.

Atmosphere:
The atmosphere at the hotel is one of a mid range type place that makes an effort. It’s a small hotel that combines old and new buildings in a semi Balinese style. The reception faces away from the street and is open, light and airy. 2 storey Delux and Superior rooms surround the pool and the whole effect creates a pleasant place to relax. Further back is a line of ?fan only’ rooms which are the oldest rooms in the hotel. Behind these is a garden with 1 & 2 storey cottages.

I saw surfers getting ready to leave with their bags as well as older tourists relaxing by the pool.

Luxury Scale:
The luxury scale is mid level with some newer rooms that look clean and bright and come with TV, hot water and AC. The fan rooms are the oldest on the property and the cottages are slightly newer. The small reception, restaurant and pool area look new and bright and offer comfortable places to relax.

This hotel doesn’t have the size or the list of extras resorts have but is clean and decent.

What makes this hotel special?:
The selling points of this hotel are location in that it is close to the airport, close to the Kuta action, and price in that the hotel is clean and comfortable without being expensive.

Why would you stay here?:
I’d stay here if I wanted to be close to the airport / Kuta highlights and wanted an okay level of comfort for a reasonable price.

Why would you stay somewhere else?:
I’d stay somewhere else if I wanted to save money and go for a guest house, or go for a higher level of luxury at a resort or bigger hotel.

Noise levels:
Being close to the airport means you can hear planes taking off. Fortunately these aren’t too oppressive. Jl. Kartika Plaza is a busy street and if you want total quiet you might want to book into one of the older cottages or rooms in the beach area.

I asked a guest his impressions and he said noise was not a problem.

Rooms:
The rooms are a decent size and feel comfortable. The newer rooms have a brighter feel with nicer bathrooms. The older rooms have a guest house-like bathroom. Most rooms are AC and come with bath tub and shower, hot water, TV with International channels, Mini Bar, IDD Telephone and private terrace.

Amenities:
The hotel has a very nice swimming pool and kids pool, pool-bar and restaurant, safety deposit Boxes, parking area, laundry service, foreign exchange service, car rental and tour desk.
