Kuta can be too crowded for some people, understood. Candi Dasa has a good selection of guest houses which are budget. They also have newer ones, with pool, TV, AC etc. My brother and I stayed in Candi Dasa earlier in the year at Pondok Bambu for 300,000rp per night. The place next door also had a pool for 150,000rp per night.

Lovina is another area with a selection of accommodation, both budget and mid range. I stayed at Nirvana in Kalibukbuk which was great.

Can you recommend any budget hotel or homestay at any Bali beach beside Kuta? I’m planning to go there on 20-26 Dec 2005..really not comfortable of Kuta Beach..pls help

i stayed with friends last 2 weeks (3-4/9/05) at artini 2.
this cottage is really recommended. the rooms is spacious and nice. you don’t even need to turn on your aircon.
choose the upper storeys to get the ricefield views. very beautiful!! i loved to watch the birds as well! unfortunetely the ricefileds was just harvested. the staffs were very friendly.

Excellent guide for those heading up to Ubud. I agree with Canucki Chris, you must have put in a lot of tread-work to compile this.
