Jl. Hanoman is a long straight street that runs N-S in downtown Ubud. Starting at Jl. Raya Ubud, the main street in town and finishing at the turn off at Jl. Monkey Forest, Jl. Hanoman runs downhill past art shops, cafes temples and guesthouses. These homestays are family compounds complete with elaborate family temples. The families are usually living in the front section and the newer guestrooms are at the back, sometimes facing the rice fields that lie between Jl. Hanoman and Jl. Monkey Forest. For someone who arrives by Perama bus, you will be dropped off at the bottom of Jl. Hanoman. This makes finding affordable accommodation easy as the street has plenty of choice. Don't be afraid to check a few places out and bargain. Security is usually not a problem as the family is always around, breakfast is almost always included and check out times tend to be around 12 noon. Hanoman is the monkey god and his image can be found at temples along the street.

You enter on Jl. Hanoman through a kori agung, the sign says Dana Sari. Simple brick rooms, clean with big bamboo beds. Be careful if you take the 3rd floor room, The stairs are small and the rail is about 18 inches high, easy to fall over in the dark. Its main selling point is the view and the outside bathroom. Other than that the quality is the same.

Gorgeous looking place on the right side of Jl. Hanoman (all the places so far have been on the right side).

3 storey rooms with pool, pool-side cafe, room service, laundry service, safe deposit boxes, airport transfer, money changer, doctor on call, FAX, IDD telephone, and immaculate gardens. I visited in July so the place was full and I could not see the room. This place feels busier than other guests houses because of the noise around the pool. The perimeter grounds look like a former rice terrace and this place definitely looks great.
