Sitting here in chilly Porltand Oregon I am reading about the execution of Nguyen Tuong Van. I’m not cheering that event, though do think countries have the right to determine their own justice system. The way things have shaped up recently there are some obvious winners (Michelle Leslie) and some obvious losers (Bali Nine). One person who is in a kind of limbo is Shapelle Corby. She has already been sentenced (15 years) but does have some room left for a backdoor escape. With the cash she will earn from book, TV, film, inteview rights, she’ll will be able to get the ‘bread and honey’ it takes to get a better shake.
I came across a site today called The Shapelle Corby Case Blog. It seems a good resourse for people who are interested in her case and who might to help. Its got to be demoralizing as hell to be inside an Indonesian jail, hearing about other people getting released and others who might get death. Is there another chapter to the Schapelle Corby case? I think there is plenty of room for more drama and maybe Schapelle should hire the guys handling Michelle Leslie.

I think that the michelle Leslie case was more of a circus in her 3 months then the Corby case. Why would Corby want to hire Leslie’s lawyers when it is more then obvious that the only reason she got out was because of the money and the people she knows. If Corby or her family had money she to would not be serving 15 years. I have a close friend who’s girlfriend is in Kerobokan prison and Michelle Leslie was in one of the biggest cells with electric with only 2 other people and had many more priveledge then all the other girls. I have read that Schapelle Corby is in a cell with 14 girls and no electricity. My friend has said the Corby is friendly and that Michelle did nothing but pose and look down at every one. (they think that she may of also had a few days out outside the prison) It is also said that she never prayed or fasted during ramadan ect (It is a know thing to all Indonesians that Money makes all the differance, Usually we don’t complain but it must be hard for the other Australian and forign girls to see the differance in the way Leslie was treated. It must be even harder for them to understand)
I beleive that Shcapelle corby is innocent and I pray that the judges at Supreme court will be fair. The police did to many things wrong in the investigation (some may say “what investigation”?)and the judges did not use any evidence to help corby. It is about time in our country Indonesia that someone who is innocent is found innocent. it shows how unfair our justice system is when no one is EVER found innocent and hasnt’ been since the 1980’s.
Dewi baby, thanks for giving us the heads up. In the west nobody gives a shit about anyone else. Its actually its a colder scene than in Indo. The only thing about Indo is they do their corruption out in public, everyone knows what is going on.
Sure Michelle Leslie had plenty of ‘bread and honey’ and Schapelle Corby is a ‘crack house cracker’. That’s tough luck in Indo if you are bule.
To Anti Corby Supporters.
Yes! We are all in titled to our opinions and we all deserve a fair go. But I don’t understand why some anti Corby supporters who believe she is guilty are so angry, passionate and determine to claim and insist that she is guilty. We all know that she (Schapelle) guilty or not, did not get a fair go in that Indo court room. Schapelle will probably not get out of jail. Not many prisoners in Kerobokin jail live much longer than 10 years due to appalling living conditions inside this 3rd world jail. Schapelle will not survive.
So congratulations to all the anti Corby supporters. There is no need to type such venom anymore. You win! You should be happy. You should get on with your free lives and forget about Schapelle.
SHAME ON YOU BALI!!
FREE SCHAPELLE NOW!!
Hey Nick. We will not forget Schapelle. NO WAY!
FREE SCHAPELLE NOW!!
Tony Soprano, I did not say that Leslie look down on Schapelle corby. It was the indonesian girls who said that she look down on everyone. Most of the other girls inside Kerobokan prison are also users. some for only half a pill and others for only positive blood tests. There are other girls inside for having 2 pills and not yet consumed and they are doing 4 years or more.
Also the only evidence they have that Corby is guilty is that the marijuana was in her unlocked bag. They have nothing else like where she got it, how she would sell it and who her partners were. Most of the real evidence proves that she did not knowing bring the marijuana into Indonesia. also marijuana costs less then in Australia, Even imported stuff usually from Brazil or hash from other parts of asia is still less then $400 and ounce.
Eddie Tansil.
I don’t think that Schapelle grew up in a trailer park but the way you speak it sounds like you did. I don’t understand why alot of you people who are not even indonesian are so hatful to this girl when most of us from Indonesian and Bali do not hold this hate and we think that she may be innocent and all of us know that she did not get a fair trial as no one does in our country.
Toney: hatful???
Corby photos seized in cannabis raid
From: By Keith Moor
December 10, 2005
POLICE have seized photographs of Schapelle Corby with a man who has just been charged with marijuana smuggling.
The alleged drug dealer is pictured alone with Corby in some photographs and with Corby and another couple in others.
They were found during a recent police search of the alleged dealer’s home in South Australia.
He was the target of a joint SA-Queensland police operation into a hydroponic marijuana smuggling ring allegedly operating between the two states.
The photographs were taken before Corby was charged in October last year with importing 4.1kg of marijuana into Bali in her bodyboard bag.
They were found in a raid that police believe helped bust a marijuana-smuggling ring operating between SA and Queensland.
The man pictured with Corby was recently arrested and charged by SA’s drug and organised crime investigation division.
A preliminary examination of the seized photographs has found they appear to be genuine.
The chance discovery of the photos comes as Corby, 28, is preparing to appeal against her drug-smuggling conviction and sentence.
Her lawyers last month lodged her appeal with Indonesia’s Supreme Court in Jakarta.
They claim lower-court judges failed to consider evidence that would set Corby free.
But the Balinese prosecution team has said it plans to lodge a counter-appeal, claiming a recent Appeal Court decision to cut five years from the Gold Coast woman’s sentence should be reversed and her 20-year jail term reinstated.
Balinese prosecutors are expected to seek access to the photographs seized by police in SA.
They will want them to try to cast doubt on claims by Corby in her trial that she had no connection with drugs or drug dealers.
The Balinese prosecution team is likely to request that police in Australia hand over the photographs and provide evidence about the alleged role in the drug-smuggling operation of the man pictured with Corby.
Corby’s team argued somebody planted the marijuana in her bodyboard bag and said corrupt baggage handlers in Australia may have been responsible.
“I have never been involved with drugs,” Corby told the Bali court during her trial.
“I don’t like drugs. It’s not my drugs. I wouldn’t even know where to get the drugs from.
“I am not a person involved in drugs and I am not a person who might become involved in drug-smuggling operations.”
The three Indonesian judges who jailed Corby for 20 years in May said she was legally and convincingly guilty of attempting to import drugs into Bali.
They said they believed the evidence of two Customs officers and two police officers who were present when Corby was stopped at Denpasar’s Ngurah Rai airport on October 8 last year.
The judges said they gave consistent testimony that Corby was nervous when asked to open her unlocked bodyboard bag and actually slapped away an officer’s hand as he reached for it.
Their evidence was that Corby said, “No, no – I have some”, and that she confirmed she owned the items in the bag.
The judges said Corby’s witnesses had failed to provide any objective evidence to back her story that the drugs were planted in her unlocked bag.
Members of SA’s drug and organised crime investigation branch conducted the operation with Queensland Police that resulted in the Corby photographs being found.
They stopped a car near Burra, SA, in late November.
A search located a large amount of cannabis hidden in the boot.
An SA man in his 40s was arrested for possessing cannabis and has been bailed to appear in court at a date to be arranged.
Several residential and rural properties in SA and Queensland were later raided as a result of the November seizure.
Fifteen kilograms of hydroponically grown cannabis and almost $60,000 in cash were seized in the raids, as were the photos of Corby with the alleged drug smuggler.
A 60-year-old man and a 53-year-old man from SA will face charges of possessing cannabis and taking part in the sale and supply of cannabis.
Five men and two women were arrested in Queensland as part of Operation Co-Pilot.
A spokeswoman for SA police said that investigations into the alleged smuggling ring were continuing and that further arrests were expected.
Corby’s father, Michael, was convicted of possessing marijuana in the 1970s.
Half-brother Clinton Rose has faced drug possession charges and spent time in jail for a range of offences, including breaking and entering, theft, fraud and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
Michael Corby said in April that his daughter was opposed to drugs.
“She had nothing to do with bloody drugs,” he said.
“She might have had a puff when she was in bloody Grade 10 or something, around the back of the schoolyard like kids do – I don’t know.
“She’s had nothing to do with it since, or any time as far as I know.”
You read the story but where is the comments by police? where is the photo? It seems like this reporter hasnt’ even seen the photo as he doesn’t describe it or when/where it was taken at all. Who was his sorse of the information? This could be all hearsay! This is a cleverly writting story with no substance and written to make Corby look guilty and involved with this un-named arrested man. This is Australian media at its worst. Ps: the reporter also added his own facts from the court eg: Customs officers never said in their testimonies that Corby slapped their hands not to open the bag.
This new turn of events for Schappelle Corby could definately be a turn for the worse.
The “innocence” card was played heavily in the trial, and these photo’s will do serious damage to her appeal - regardless of whether the Indonesians have the pictures or not
The premise of that story has now been completely discredited.

CORBY IN THE CLEAR
By TEGAN SLUGGETT

SCHAPELLE Corby has been cleared of any link to the Adelaide man facing drug charges with whom she was photographed in Bali’s Kerobokan Prison.
-
Ultimately, this inaccurate beat-up should work in Schapelle’s favour since the early enthusiasm of the Bali prosecutor to obtain the photos again highlights what is a massive hole in the prosecution case. That after 15 months of trying neither the AFP, the Bali police or the embittered rumour-mongers of Australia have found any evidence of Schapele having links with drugs in Oz or in Bali.
schappelle is a stupid idiot and probably lost her case because she gave herself a migrane by hitting herself in the head she cries so much because she lost her drugs and now is an ugly thing and the druglord is probably very annoyed now
regards anonymous
i beleive schappelle is innocent and that she was not given a fair trial i have worn a yellow band around my wrist from dy one and will not take it off untill the day she is found innocent and coes home were she belongs.
Schapelle is innocent …i have read her story and heard alot of ppl commenting on her case …logically speaking she is innocent ..it mite be a setup, revenge from someone dunno..why wod she ever think os taking drugs with her when she can get it anywhere ??? she is not that stupid …bali\’s dont want her out i think ..stubborn uneducated ppl …all our support is with corby ..may god bless u and get u home safely
Hi. I am in the middle of reading Schapelles heart wrenching story. I have never believed she was quilty. Same on Australia for nor looking after her. She is clearly there for the publicity and the money she is bringing to Indonesia. They are thieves, and brutual people with no regard to human life. I think about Schapelle all the time and pray that she will be freed soon to continue her life as she once knew it.
Having just returned from living overseas for the last 12 years, finally had time to read a great book. As a backpacker who’s travelled the world I’ve experirecnced the threat of some customs guy “finding” restricted drugs in your bags, my own nephew just went overseas for 6 months ( never been o/s B4) had to pay some mexican cop off because he had panadol on him! Australia, Qantus & schapelle’s lawyers should be completely ashamed of themselves for complete lack of disregard for something they should be held accountable for - like supplying evidence, and what happened to all the baggage handlers accused of trafficking? Are the australian tax payers paying for their defence or unemployment benefits?
There is always 3 sides to the story her side their side and the truth, so dig deep and hang in there schapplle.
Nguyen Tuong Van can hardly claim that he wasn’t aware of what he was doing. If you smuggle 396.2 grams of H into Singapore, and they catch you, there’s only gonna be one verdict.
