Manager / Receptionist: Nyoman

From Jimbaran Bali and has worked here since 1990.

Nyoman told me that the hotel opened in 1989. It has 23 rooms (14 Standard, 6 Delux, 2 Suites and 1 Family).

Baliblog: Nyoman what are the highlights of Adika Sari Bungalows?
Nyoman: Adika Sari Bungalows has a quiet location that is not far from beach, only 5 minutes. Its also near to the shopping and near to airport, around 30 minutes.

Baliblog: How would you describe the style of the hotel?
Nyoman: The hotel is like a cottage style with cottages arranged around a pool. We also have a Balinese style lobby area.

Baliblog: Where would you recommend to guests to dine outside of the hotel that is within walking distance?
Nyoman: The Padma Club restaurant, Legian Snake and Thai restaurant that is close by. Zanzibar and Café Warna at Blue Ocean beach are also good.

Baliblog: Where would you recommend guests go for some evening fun that is within walking distance?
Nyoman: Double Six and Paddy’s Pub. A good bar close by is The Padma Club.

Baliblog: Nyoman who are your guests?
Nyoman: Mostly families. Mixed, Aussies and Europeans.

Baliblog: Why would you recommend someone to stay here?
Nyoman: Because its nice looking and has friendly employees. Its like a family hotel with a human touch with the guests.

Here’s the real deal: Nick the Travel Nutter reviews the Adika Sari.>>

Adika Sari Bungalows is an older budget hotel in the Padma area in close proximity to the bars and restaurants of Legian.

The hotel has a semi traditional lobby / reception area at the front. The 2 storey structure contains a spacious upstairs restaurant complete with pool table.

The restaurant is airy and has several ceiling fans. Views from the restaurant overlook the central pool and the street outside. The restaurant is open from 0700 to 2200 and serves a variety of foods from typical Indonesian, to Italian, seafood, meat dishes and other items such as sandwiches.

There is a small pond at the front of the hotel with furniture for guests to sit. The lobby décor is an original mixture of bamboo, wood, marble and brick, with parking for cars and motorbikes is available in the front of the hotel.

Single and double storey cottages surround the pool on 3 sides with the lounge area and bar on the other side. All rooms have a small porch or balcony facing the central pool. Proximity to the road might mean that noise might be a problem for some people. The rooms feel reasonably spacious and the rooms are clean, though not luxurious.

Along both sides of the pool are lounge chairs that are good for sunbathing although they number 7 in total.

Weird stuff: Restaurant and lounge play a constant stream of ‘70’s and 80’s pop music which some people may enjoy.

Amenities:
All rooms are equiped with world channel TV,
IDD telephone,
AC,
Bath tub with hot and cold water.

Facilities:
Swimming pool for adults and children,
Sunset Bar,
The Rainbow seafood grill restaurant,
Billiard table,
Fresh Seafood Mini Market,
Mini Drugstore,
Traditional Balinese massage,
Laundry Service,
All day transportation service.

Adika Sari Bungalows is an older hotel located in tourist popular Padma area of Legian. The hotel is 200 meters from the beach and close to shopping on Jl. Legian as well as bars and restaurants close by. Rooms are simple and great for families needing extra space on a budget.

Atmosphere:
The atmosphere at this hotel is relaxed in a budget kind of way. The area is quite small with a small front reception / lobby area. Two storey rooms are centered around a small pool and other guests will be in close proximity.

I’d say this hotel has been around for a while and is popular with Australian family groups. The area around Padma is itself a center for this particular demographic.

Location:
Located on Jl. Padma between the beach and Jl. Legian the hotel is well located for those people who want to do a bit of everything, hit the beach, go shopping, try out some tourist bars and not have to go far for a selection of midrange tourist restaurants.

Luxury scale:
This hotel is in the budget range and offers a decent place to stay with the extras of AC, pool, restaurant etc. that a guest house won’t. Rooms also are large with lounge areas. Simple and comfortable.

Staff Friendliness:
The staff here are very friendly. One lady who works in the restaurant explained in detail where her new warung was located and invited me to come and sample the food. Other staff members came over to say hello while I sipped an orange juice. The small size and ‘un corporate’ feel make the staff more inclined to share a bit more of themselves.

Weird Stuff:
The Delux room had a shower area made partly from rocks that looked as if it might be a ‘garden bathroom’. Closer inspection showed is was not open and did not in fact have a shower, it was just for hanging clothes. One of the suites had 2 inch step between the different areas which I kept tripping over.

What makes this unique?
I think the location makes this hotel unique. While not particularly scenic it offers a family style atmosphere, with handy access to the tourist favorites all for an affordable price. The are also 4 kinds of room configurations to fit most kinds of group.

Why would you stay here?
I’d stay here if I had a family group that needed a bit more lounge space than a guest house would provide, plus a pool and a restaurant. The scene around Padma is more of an Aussie / European family scene than a solo tourist scene so it might suit people with kids.

Why would you stay somewhere else?
If I wanted a sparkly new hotel with the latest mod cons, a resort or a budget guest house I’d look elsewhere.

Noise:
The street outside the Adika Sari is one-way and receives a high level of traffic in during the day. As the hotel grounds are small you will hear some noise.

Proximity to action:
For someone who wants to relax and walk to the beach, kick back by the pool, go shopping and hit a few new places at night the Adika Sari is in a good location. To go to backpacker central simply walk 15 minutes south down Jl. Legian and for the upmarket bars and restaurants of Seminyak catch a cab 5 minutes north.

How does the room feel:
The rooms feel spacious and clean. The hotel has been around for a while and you can tell the age of the place.

Beds are large and comfortable. AC in all rooms, but not lounge areas.
